Exclude browsers, robots, and spiders from monitoring

Dynatrace allows you to exclude specific browser types, as well as bots and spiders, from monitoring.

Exclude browsers from monitoring

If you want to exclude certain outdated browser types from your list of monitored browsers, create browser exclusion rules for the browsers that are to be excluded.

To create a browser exclusion rule

  1. Select Applications from the navigation menu.
  2. Select the application for which you want to exclude a browser.
  3. Click the browse button (...) and select Edit.
  4. Select Advanced setup from the left menu.
  5. In the Exclude/Include browsers from monitoring section, click Add browser exclusion rule.
  6. In the Browser dropdown, select the browser you want to exclude and specify the exact version and type.
  7. Click Add.

Exclude bots and spiders from monitoring

While monitoring your application, you may encounter additional traffic that is generated by automatic bots or spiders. This may generate Unexpected low traffic alerts. These false alerts make it difficult to see any relevant problems. You can exclude bots and spiders from RUM. The Exclude/Include option for bot and spiders requires Dynatrace OneAgent version 1.89 or later.

To exclude bots and spiders from RUM:

  1. Select Applications from the navigation menu.
  2. Select the application for which you want to exclude bots and spiders.
  3. Click the browse button (...) and select Edit.
  4. Select Advanced setup from the left menu.
  5. In the Exclude/Include browsers from monitoring section, click Add browser exclusion rule.
  6. In the Browser dropdown, select Bots&Spiders.
  7. Click Add.

It takes a few minutes for your changes to update all OneAgent instances.
