Service availability now detected

In a recent blog post we announced that Dynatrace now monitors the availability of your processes. We’ve followed up on this enhancement by adding availability detection for services.

Generally speaking, services inherit their availability from the processes they run on. Dynatrace considers a service to be offline when the whole cluster it runs on is unavailable. This can occur when a process is shutdown or crashes. This means you can now distinguish between a service that is available, but is receiving no traffic, and a service that is unavailable because the underlying processes have been stopped or crashed.

Those who know me know that I'm passionate about 3 things: rock climbing, physics, and performance. I've worked in performance monitoring and optimizations in enterprise environments for the better part of the last 10 years. Now as a Product Manager I am doing my best to build those experiences into Dynatrace.
