Overview

Security Operations connects your existing security toolchain to Dynatrace, breaking the silos between security teams and operations teams by bringing all third-party security findings into a single, shared view — providing the context where it is needed.

  • Single pane of glass: Ingest findings from cloud-native security products, threat intelligence platforms, and vulnerability scanners into Dynatrace. See all security signals alongside service health, infrastructure, and application data in one platform.
  • Unified analysis and noise reduction: Contextualize findings with full-stack observability data using the Dynatrace Semantic Dictionary. Understand what is real, what is noise, and what requires immediate action.
  • Findings operationalization: Go beyond ingestion. Turn incoming findings into automated actions — notifications, remediation workflows, ticketing — without switching tools.

Ready-made dashboards and workflows are available in Dynatrace immediately after setup, giving security and operations teams shared, actionable visibility with no additional configuration.

Use cases

  • Visualize and report on security findings: Use ready-made dashboards in the Dashboards app to give security and operations teams a shared view of incoming findings, coverage posture, and vulnerability trends — surfaced in the same platform already used for service health and infrastructure monitoring.

  • Prioritize with runtime context: Use Notebooks and DQL to contextualize incoming security events with real-time runtime data — deployed versions, exposed services, network reachability — to focus remediation where it matters most and cut through alert noise.

  • Automate response and notifications: Connect findings to Dynatrace Workflows to automate common responses: send Slack or email alerts on critical findings, create Jira tickets, or trigger custom remediation steps.

  • Investigate threats across your stack: Use Dynatrace Investigations to trace findings across your full observability stack — from a detected threat event to the affected service, host, or Kubernetes workload.

  • Discover coverage gaps: Use the Security product coverage dashboard to identify which hosts, workloads, and container images are not yet monitored by any connected security product, and address blind spots proactively.

Get started

Open Settings → Collect & Capture → Security events, or find the integration you want in the Dynatrace Hub.

Add a connection

  1. Select Add connection and choose the security product to connect.
  2. Follow the step-by-step onboarding wizard. Depending on the integration, this involves configuring cloud-side infrastructure using the provided templates and a Dynatrace API token.
  3. Run the built-in validation to confirm findings are arriving in security.events.

Ready-made documents

After setup, relevant dashboards and workflows are immediately available in the Dashboards and Workflows apps, attributed to Security Operations — no extra configuration required.

Details

All findings are stored in the security.events Grail table, where they can be queried with DQL alongside logs, metrics, and traces from the rest of your environment.
