Overview

The Service Graph Connector for Dynatrace populates your ServiceNow CMDB with the entities and relationships Dynatrace discovers, replacing manual import processes with continuous, automated synchronization. As Dynatrace maps your infrastructure and application topology, the connector translates that data into the correct CI types and dependency records in ServiceNow.

The connector is leveraging all dependencies and relationship information from Smartscape, Dynatrace's real-time topology model.

What the connector syncs:

  • Hosts and processes with improved CI classification and reduced duplicate records across your environment.

  • Frontend entities: web application components appear in CMDB as configuration items.

  • Azure VM-to-server mappings: Azure VMs are linked to their correct server CIs, improving correlation accuracy and impact analysis.

Third-generation ITOM Workflows are compatible with the updated connector, supporting tag-based CI mapping so event notifications reach the right business service CIs in ServiceNow.

Use cases

  • Keep CMDB current with Dynatrace-discovered entities, so operations teams always work from an accurate service, host, and process map without manual imports.

  • Control which entities are sent to CDMB using Segments

Get started

The Service Graph Connector for Dynatrace is available from the ServiceNow Store. Install it in your ServiceNow instance, configure a connection to your Dynatrace environment, and define the scope of entities to synchronize using Grail tags or Segments.
