Overview

SAP Cloud ALM is SAP's cloud-native application lifecycle management solution for monitoring and operating the SAP landscape. This extension integrates Dynatrace with the SAP Cloud ALM Analytics API and Raw Data Outbound APIs, collecting operational telemetry, implementation metrics, and log and trace data.

The extension collects data from 20 analytics data providers across SAP Cloud ALM Operations: health monitoring for connected SAP services, job execution statistics, integration message processing via SAP Integration Suite, real user monitoring, synthetic monitoring, business process KPI values, exception monitoring, and business service SLA/SLO tracking. Implementation data (project status, defects, features, requirements, tasks, tests, and quality gates) is also available.

Log data from the SAP Cloud ALM Raw Data Outbound Logs API is ingested for exception monitoring, integration monitoring, business service events, monitoring events, and job automation scenarios. Real user monitoring traces from the Raw Data Outbound Traces API are forwarded to Dynatrace distributed tracing.

All data maps to a Dynatrace entity topology of SAP Cloud ALM instances, analytics providers, and monitored SAP services.

Use cases

Centralize SAP operational health by consolidating health metrics, job execution results, and integration message status from across the SAP landscape into Dynatrace dashboards and alerts.
Detect and alert on job failures: track aborted, warning, and error-state job executions across all monitored SAP systems.
Monitor integration message failure rates in SAP Integration Suite via Cloud ALM's CPI integration monitoring provider.
Correlate real user monitoring data (response times, request counts, user counts by request type) with backend service health to identify user-impacting issues.
Track synthetic monitoring scenario availability and performance ratings across business services.
Monitor business process KPIs over time and alert when values breach configured thresholds.
Assess business service SLA and SLO compliance using Business Service Management analytics.
Track implementation and project health: monitor defect counts, feature delivery status, requirements approval, task effort and completion, test results, and quality gate outcomes.
Audit configuration changes, store counts, and security records for compliance purposes via Configuration & Security Analysis.
Ingest raw OTel logs and traces from SAP Cloud ALM for root-cause analysis across business processes.

Prerequisites

SAP Cloud ALM subscription with the Operations module activated
SAP BTP service instance for SAP Cloud ALM APIs, configured with the required API scopes at instance creation time
Dynatrace ActiveGate with connectivity to SAP Cloud ALM
