Overview

OpenAI Codex Monitoring provides centralised observability into Codex CLI sessions using OpenTelemetry export to Dynatrace. It captures session activity, API requests, token usage, tool interactions, and request performance from real developer workflows and makes this data available in the Dynatrace AI Observability app.

Once telemetry is enabled, Codex CLI activity can be analysed using Dynatrace dashboards, the Metrics browser, Log & Event Viewer, and queries. This allows teams to understand how Codex behaves during day‑to‑day usage, investigate delays or failures, and monitor reliability patterns across developer workflows.
