Overview

Integrate your Dynatrace environment with GitLab to orchestrate pipeline runs, check their status, and create and update issues. For GitOps-compliant automation and remediation, retrieve files from repositories, update files in a state repository, and make merge requests.

Use cases

This enables you to:

  • Integrate Dynatrace with the GitLab platform to trigger a pipeline run, receive the status of a pipeline
  • Create issues in GitLab, search for available, resolve, edit and comment on issues
  • Perform GitOps-compliant automation and remediation scenarios, for example, to rightsize a PVC by amending the configuration in the underlying state repository

Ensure that you have installed GitLab for Worfklows, that outbound connections are configured, and that the connection to GitLab is authorized.

If your GitLab platform is behind your firewall, configure EdgeConnect to tunnel the traffic securely.

Details

GitLab enables users to orchestrate pipeline runs based on Dynatrace insights and modify files in repositories for GitOps-compliant automation and remediation:

Define various incident triggers:

  • Use the power of DQL and leverage events to react to any problem, security incident or attack, to trigger a pipeline run
  • Use Biz-Events as a trigger to react on extended events like a deployment event, failed release validation with Site Reliability Guardian, specific logs messages, or external system events
  • Define a scheduler for periodic tasks

Pipeline Orchestration

  • Trigger a new pipeline run
  • Get pipeline status

Issue management

  • Create issues in GitLab
  • Search for available issues to prevent duplicates and comment on available issues
  • Edit or resolve issues, assign issues to specific users or add descriptions

Repository Management

  • Get File content
  • Create a new file, update or delete an existing file in your repository
  • Create a merge request, lists merge requests, update or merge and existent merge request
