Overview

Dynatrace provides detailed visibility into GitHub Copilot SDK–based agents by capturing OpenTelemetry spans for LLM calls, tool execution, and session events. You can explore your agent in the AI Observability app, view traces for each model call, and analyse token usage, latency, and tool behaviour. Dashboards help you understand request patterns, cost drivers, and reliability signals, while distributed traces let you drill into errors and delays across agent workflows.

See each LLM call made by the Copilot SDK agent, including model IDs, token usage, and latency.

Monitor tool execution

Track when tools are invoked, how long they take, and how they contribute to the agent’s overall workflow.

Get started

Follow the Quick Start steps guide on GitHub to configure OTLP/HTTP exporters, subscribe to the Copilot SDK session event stream, and upload the prebuilt Dynatrace dashboard. The required spans are created programmatically at runtime using manual OpenTelemetry instrumentation, ensuring compatibility with the Dynatrace AI Observability app.
