Breaking News: You can use Dynatrace on ALL your sites to monitor ANY technology—even if you don’t have direct access to your site’s host. Here’s why this is so awesome:
Though Dynatrace setup is pretty easy, you still need root access to your site’s host to install it. But what if your WordPress, Ghost, Jekyll, Statamic, Kirby, Perch, you-name-it app is externally hosted? You likely can’t get root privileges to such sites (have you ever tried talking the guys over at GitHub into granting you root access?). Or maybe Dynatrace is unable to automatically inject OneAgent into your webserver.
So, you’re probably thinking: no root privileges and no OneAgent installation means no real user monitoring for you, right?
Wrong!
You can now set up real user monitoring manually regardless of whether or not you have root privileges for your web server. This is awesome because now you really can monitor ALL your entities with Dynatrace, regardless of hosting, technology, or any incompatibility issues you may encounter.
Dynatrace automatically generates the required JavaScript tag that you need to manually insert into the HTML of each of your application’s pages. We ourselves did that on our own WordPress blog.
You see, enabling real user monitoring now really is as easy as adding Google Analytics for your site.
We created this manual “agentless” approach to real user monitoring because you really shouldn’t miss out on it. So, head over to your “site-without-root-accessTM.com” and start learning about your customer’s user experience by enabling agentless real user monitoring.

What, you don’t have Dynatrace yet? Finding excuses for that is getting harder and harder, isn’t it?
