My views

To go to the My views dashboard, click >My views.

You can design My Views dashboards to include:

  • Selected saved charts.
    Interactive charts shown in the dashboards display the chart title, time period (day and time), and the chart. Click the chart title to view the chart in the Interactive charts page.
  • The **Internet health map **.
  • Operations dashboards.
  • Recent Alerts – The Alert logs page filtered to show Backbone, Mobile, and Private Last Mile alerts from the past 24 hours.

Create up to a maximum of 50 dashboards. Each dashboard can have a maximum of four widgets.

Creating a dashboard

Click >My views.
One of the following appears:

  • If you have not created any views, click Create View.
  • If you have created dashboards, your default view appears. From the Quick Links menu, select Create New. (This link is not available if you have already created the maximum of 50 My views dashboards.)
    The Create/Edit My View page appears.

Enter a name for the dashboard and click Submit. An empty page appears.

Caution: Do not use the reserved term Tag or Tags in the View name.

Click Layout located in the upper right corner of the page. The Layout window appears.

Select the layout for this dashboard. The default is the 2 Columns layout.

Click Apply. The empty dashboard page appears.

Click Add Widget located in the upper right corner of the page.

The Add Widget window appears.

Select the items to view in this dashboard by selecting the:

  • Saved Charts category – The charts you created or can view.
  • Others category – The Internet health map page and the Alerts log page.
  • Operations Dashboards category – The Backbone analyst, Backbone operations, and Last mile operations dashboards you have created or can view.

For all categories, select to view a thumbnail view or a list view. All views list the name, the user who created it, and the modification or creation date. The thumbnail view includes icons.

Optional: Search for an item by entering text in the Search field. Search results appear dynamically as the search criteria is entered or changed.

Select the items for this dashboard and click Add. Add a maximum of four widgets to one dashboard. The dashboard appears with items arranged in the selected layout.

Optional: To rearrange the information shown in this dashboard, drag the charts, Internet health map, or Recent alerts to a new location in the layout.

Viewing a dashboard

From the Quick Links menu, choose the dashboard to view. Dashboards are listed in the order in which they were created.

Use the search field to find a dashboard. Search results are updated dynamically as the search criteria is entered or changed.

  • Click the plus sign + in the upper right corner of a widget to maximize the size of it.
    If you select to maximize, the widget you selected appears in one large column on the page.
  • Click Return to Full Page located in the upper right corner to return to the dashboard.
  • Choose the Auto Refresh option.
    By default, the Auto Refresh option is set to Off. Choose On to automatically refresh the information shown in this dashboard.
    The refresh rate depends on the widgets you selected:
    • Internet health map – 5 minutes
    • Operations dashboards – 5 minutes
    • Alert logs – 5 minutes
    • Saved charts – The time interval selected for this chart, shown in the Time filter in the interactive chart

Configuring a dashboard

Configure a dashboard by:

Setting preferences

  • For charts, select whether the charts show the chart legend.

  • For the Internet health map, select the metrics, the geography, the test type, and whether auto cycling is on or off.

  • For Recent Alerts:

    • Change the sort order of the table.
    • Use the Action menu to choose:
      • View Detail to open the Alert details page to view the details of an alert.
      • Edit to open the Edit a <ProductType> page and modify the test and alert settings.
        Your profile determines whether the Edit option is available.
  • For the Operations dashboards, optionally change the preferences for this dashboard. The preferences that can be changed depend on the dashboard you selected to view.

Editing chart preferences

For charts, select whether the charts show the chart legend.

  1. Click . The Preferences window appears.
  2. Select Show Legend to show the legend for this widget.
    Clear the check box to remove this information from the chart.
  3. Click Apply.

Editing Internet health map preferences

For the Internet health map, select the metrics, the geography, the test type, and whether auto cycling is on or off.

Edit the preferences within the chart. The options that can be modified are described here, excluding the ability of viewing the page full screen in a new window.

Changing the sort order of recent alerts

Change the sort order of the table by selecting a column to sort by that column.

Editing Operations dashboards

  1. Click . The preferences for this dashboard which you can modify appear.
  2. Edit the preferences.
  3. Click Submit.

Renaming a dashboard

  1. From the Quick Links menu, click Manage Dashboards.
    The Create/Edit My Dashboard page appears
  2. Enter a new name.
    Caution: Do not use the reserved term Tag or Tags in the View name.
  3. Click to confirm the new name.

Modifying the layout

Change the layout of an existing dashboard.

  1. Select the dashboard to modify.
  2. Click Layout. The Layout window appears.
  3. Select the new layout for the dashboard and click Apply. The dashboard appears in the new layout.

Renaming a widget

By default, the text "Saved Chart" appears above each widget. You can enter a different name for the widget.

  1. Select the "Saved Chart" text that appears above the widget. The text becomes a field which you can edit.
  2. Enter the new name and click .
    Caution: Do not use the reserved term Tag or Tags in the widget name.

Deleting a widget

Delete a widget from a dashboard and, optionally, select a different widget in its place.

  1. Select the dashboard with the widget to delete.
  2. Click X located in the upper right corner of the widget. A confirmation message appears.
  3. Click OK to confirm that you wish to delete this widget.

Replacing a widget

You can replace a widget in a dashboard.

  1. After deleting the widget to replace, click Add Widget.
  2. Select the widget to add to the dashboard as described in steps 6–7 of Creating a Dashboard, above.

Deleting a dashboard

You can delete any dashboard you are not viewing. You cannot delete the last dashboard.

  1. From the Quick Links menu, click Manage Dashboards.
    The Create/Edit My Dashboard page appears.
  2. Click Action > Delete. A confirmation message appears.
  3. Click Delete.
