Although the Dynatrace mobile apps for iOS and Android are the best option for receiving real-time notifications when Dynatrace detects a problem in your environment, there are situations where you may want to integrate Dynatrace with other IT alerting tools like PagerDuty or OpsGenie to manage your Ops team’s on-call responsibilities or to consolidate alerts.
Possibly your corporate policy mandates that you document all detected problems in an incident-management solution (for example, Atlassian Jira). Dynatrace now gives you the option of sending emails whenever a problem is detected as well as additional emails when a problem is escalated or closed. Dynatrace can now be used as a generic alerting mechanism for such integration tasks. This mechanism is designed to be flexible and requires some configuration for proper setup on target systems. To make this process easier, we plan to release technology-specific integrations for the most frequently used target systems. We’re currently working on full support for PagerDuty and OpsGenie integration. We’ll provide updates regarding further integrations as they become available.
To set up email notification integration:
- Go to Settings > Integration.
- Type the recipient email address into the To field.
- (Optional) Add a cc email address or edit the default email Subject line.
- (Optional) Adjust alert levels. By default Dynatrace alerts you for all problems that impact end-user experience.
Infrastructure-only problem notifications are disabled by default.
