Telegraf

Telegraf is an open source agent written by Influxdata. It’s a plugin-based system for collecting, processing, aggregating, and writing metrics. By adding Dynatrace support to Telegraf, you get intelligent observability and automatic root cause analysis for over 200 technologies.

This is intended for users who want to:

• Leverage existing Telegraf plugins to extend Dynatrace monitoring capabilities.

This enables you to:

• Use any of the 200+ plugins from Telegraf to gather data, automatically send it to Dynatrace, and have it analyzed by Dynatrace Intelligence.
• Automatically feed captured metrics into your Dynatrace Smartscape topology model.
• Avoid manual maintenance of hundreds of alerts thanks to our trusted auto-adaptive baseline engine.

Compatibility Requirements

• Telegraf metric ingestion comes with Dynatrace OneAgent version 1.201+
• Telegraf version 1.16+

Telegraf metric ingestion comes with OneAgent version 1.201+. We recommend installing Telegraf on monitored hosts alongside OneAgent. You only need to allow the Dynatrace Output Plugin in your Telegraf configuration (Telegraf version 1.16+) and allow Telegraf metric ingestion at the environment or host level in your Dynatrace configuration. Note that the host-level configuration overrides the environment configuration.

2. Enable Telegraf metric ingestion at the environment level
3. Enable Telegraf metric ingestion for a single host
