Delivering new digital services at speed

Sicredi is a leading Brazilian cooperative financial institution with roots dating back to the country’s first credit cooperative. Today it provides 300 financial services, including loans, credit cards, current and savings accounts, investments, payment services, social security, foreign exchange, and consortium plans to more than 10 million associates.

The rapid rise of fintechs and digital-first banks in Brazil has raised expectations for speed, reliability and seamless customer experiences. To stay competitive, Sicredi accelerated its innovation strategy, by increasing the number of Agile teams in the bank from 40 to more than 500 over five years. This resulted in its digital estate expanding to more than 1,100 applications, underpinned by 10,000 components and 7,000 databases – all supporting 280+ business journeys that run simultaneously. To manage this complexity while continuing to deliver new digital services at speed, Sicredi urgently needed to improve the visibility its teams had across its technology stack.

With Dynatrace, the time it takes to create an SLO has dropped from about 15 minutes to just three, significantly reducing the cognitive effort for our engineers.

Turning observability into business insight

Sicredi selected Dynatrace to integrate full-stack observability directly into the internal developer platform (IDP) used by its Agile teams. With Dynatrace OpenPipeline and Grail technology, Sicredi centralized telemetry data and enabled teams to create and manage service-level objectives aligned to business journeys. This allowed Sicredi to move beyond monitoring isolated services to observe complete member journeys end to end. Developers gained the ability to drill down from high-level business impact to the precise technical root cause, helping teams identify customer pain points and resolve them quickly.

“What Dynatrace gives us is the ability to connect observability telemetry directly to business outcomes,” said Eduardo Abe, Platform Engineering Manager, Sicredi. “We’re no longer just looking at systems – we can see exactly where our members experience friction at every stage of their user journey. In real time, we can identify the precise service or component causing the issue and immediately align our engineering teams around fixing what truly matters.”

Life with Dynatrace

  • Faster digital innovation: By embedding Dynatrace as a self-service capability within its IDP, Sicredi reduced the time it takes developers to instrument applications with observability by 80%. Observability is now embedded into software delivery, enabling teams to accelerate releases while maintaining defined standards for service performance, faster incident detection and improved platform reliability.
  • Improved developer productivity: Integrating Dynatrace simplified the way engineers create and manage service level objectives (SLOs). The time required to create an SLO dropped from 15 minutes to just 3 minutes, while the process itself was simplified from six steps to two, reducing cognitive effort by 67%. As a result, engineers spend less time managing tooling and more time delivering new capabilities that support Sicredi’s business goals.
  • Improved Customer experience: Dynatrace enables Sicredi to monitor and measure critical customer journeys, such as account opening, payments, and verification. This helps its teams to identify points of friction in the digital banking experience so it can focus engineering resources on improvements that will have the greatest impact on its competitiveness.
  • AI workflows: By integrating Dynatrace’s MCP Server into an AI agent for its IDP, Sicredi enables developers to use natural language to trigger AI-driven workflows. Teams can use this capability to generate and refine SLOs, explore performance insights, and receive recommendations to optimize business journeys, supporting continuous innovation at scale.

“What I value most about Dynatrace is that it makes reliability visible across our entire organisation,” Abe added. “It gives everyone a shared view of how our services are performing – which is so powerful, helping our teams innovate faster while delivering the reliable digital experiences our members expect.”
