What are the disk requirements for OneAgent installation and upgrade?

The following table includes information about the disk space requirements for OneAgent full-stack installation and upgrades. Note that exact values may vary based on OneAgent version.

Linux (x86) Linux (ppcle) AIX Windows
Installer file size 110MB 35MB 50MB 65MB
Size of installation (with temporary installation files removed) 700 MB 300 MB 600 MB 400 MB
Size of installation process (space required to deploy OneAgent files) 1 GB1 400 MB1 750 MB1 900 MB2
Recommended free space for runtime data (logs, temporary files, crash reports, memory dumps, etc.)3 1 GB 1 GB 1 GB 1 GB
OneAgent self-monitoring4 2 GB 2 GB 2 GB 2 GB
Additional space required for updates 1.1 GB5 450 MB5 800 MB5 465 MB6
  • 1 The size of the installation process is calculated as follows:

3 * installer file size + size of the installation

The installer size must be multiplied by 3 to account for:

    • Downloaded installer file
    • Archive, which is separated from the installer script
    • Unpacked external TAR
  • 2 The size of the installation process is calculated as follows:

    2 * installer file size + 2 * size of the installation

The installer size must be multiplied by 2 to account for:

    • Downloaded installer file
    • Temporary extraction of the external MSI to %APPDATA%\OneAgent

The installation size must be multiplied by 2 because the installer temporarily unpacks all files to %APPDATA%\ruxit\<ID> and copies them to the final destination. At the end of the installation, the %APPDATA%\ruxit\<ID> folder is deleted.

  • 3 It's possible to limit the log size. If you're interested in this option, please contact Support.

  • 4 OneAgent self-monitoring is enabled by default, however an opt-out installation parameter is available (--install-agent <on|off>)

  • 5 The additional space required for updates is calculated as follows:

installer file size + size of the installation process

In terms of space requirements, there's no real difference between manual installation of the new version (when an older version is already installed), auto-update, and updates that are trigered by restarting the OneAgent container. In all these cases, the installation process is performed exactly the same way. What differs is the method through which the update is triggered.

  • 6 The additional space required for updates is calculated as follows:

size of the installation + installer file size

On Windows, the older version is uninstalled before the new version is unpacked.
