Play back a script immediately after you record it so you can confirm that it recorded correctly. The Dynatrace Recorder plays your script back through a browser, not an emulator, so the behavior is exactly what a user experiences. You can choose to save the script first, but it is not required. You can also export the results (at the step or script level).
Select the playback agent
Select the agent from the drop-down list in the upper left corner of the Recorder.
You can also select File > Playback Agent, then select the agent from the submenu.
If you have specified a default agent in the Global Preferences, the Recorder defaults to that agent. Otherwise, the Recorder defaults to the last agent you selected as the playback agent.
Scripts for desktop browsers can use the Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome playback agent.
All new mobile scripts run on the Mobile agent by default. Mobile scripts can use the Chrome agent, Mobile agent, or Firefox agent for playback; however, only the Mobile and Chrome agents support the mobile device actions Tap, Swipe, Pinch, Span, and Rotate. The Firefox agent does not recognize those actions, and will skip them when playing back a script. The Firefox agent can be selected for troubleshooting or editing your existing Firefox mobile scripts. In the Dynatrace Portal, new mobile scripts can only be provisioned to the Mobile agent.
Play the script
Click PLAY to begin playback. The PLAY button changes to STOP while the script plays. You should see the actions you recorded repeated in a popup window.
If you are playing back a native application script, the window opens, but does not display the actions.
When the script is finished, the popup window closes and the playback results are displayed in the Recorder window.
To stop playback before the script is finished, click STOP. Note that if you stop the playback, an error message appears in the Recorder window. You cannot resume playing the script where you stopped it; if you play it again, it starts at the beginning.
