Editing script steps

Steps are logical groups of actions. The steps in a script may approximate page views, but they can be freely arranged to match less conventional website architectures. Create or remove steps in your script to make the results meaningful to you.

Step boundaries define the boundaries between steps. These separators can be manipulated in the interactive timeline at the top of the Recorder window.

Add HTTP authentication

HTTP authentication cannot be captured by the Recorder, but you can enter the authentication details after the recording is complete.

  1. Click the step name to display the configuration screen where the authentication info can be entered.
  2. Enter the Username and Password. Click the lock icon to encrypt the password.
  3. If necessary, enter the Machine Name and Domain Name.

The information is saved automatically.

Paste a step

After you copy or cut a step, either paste the complete step into another location or paste the step's actions into another step.

You can paste steps copied or cut in one script into another script. Open a new window, open the target script, and paste the step(s).

Paste a step as a complete step
