Health Map and performance chart

The top pane of the dashboard displays a Health Map and a Performance Chart. The Health Map appears at the aggregate and test-level. The Performance Chart is available at the test level only.

Health map

The Health Map provides a geographic overview of response time and availability.

It is located in the top pane and appears in the aggregate and test-level view.

The test types shown in the Health Map are:

  • Backbone
  • Last Mile
  • Private Last Mile
  • Mobile

The color (status) shown on the map is determined by comparing the metrics average value to the threshold for the specified time period.

For example, if a Last Mile location of the United States had an average response time value of 5 seconds, this area's status would be warning and the area would appear orange on the map as the threshold for a warning is a response time greater than 4 seconds but less than 7 seconds.

Filtering the health map

Filters are available for the Top 10 Active Tests and custom dashboards.

Click to view available filters. Click again to hide the filters.

Filters are grouped into these categories:

  • Performance

    • Response Time
    • Availability
    • Throughput – This option is only available for an individual Backbone test when the Host tab is selected, as described in the next section.
  • Products

    • Backbone
    • Last Mile
    • Mobile
    • Private Last Mile

At the aggregate level, Backbone, Mobile, and Last Miles tests are selected by default.
At the test level, the product is selected automatically and cannot be modified.

  • Geography
    • US
    • World
    • North America
    • South America
    • Europe
    • Asia
    • Oceania

The Geography filter selected at the dashboard level also applies when viewing specific tests in that dashboard.

Zooming in or moving the map

Use the mouse to scroll to zoom into a region or click and drag the map across the screen.

Viewing details

Details shown depend on the product and whether you are viewing the Health Map at the aggregate or individual test level.

Mobile, Last Mile, and Private Last Mile tests

At the aggregate and individual test level, hover over a Mobile icon , which represents Mobile nodes, to view more information.

For Last Mile and Private Last Mile tests, the color (status) is by country. At the aggregate and individual test level, hover over a region to view more information.

Information for Mobile, Last Mile, and Private Last Mile tests consists of:

  • Location name and product
  • Status
  • Number of test runs
  • Number of test failures
  • Availability or response time – The metric shown depends on the selected filter.

Backbone tests

At the aggregate level, hover over a Backbone icon , which represent Backbone nodes, to view the following information:

  • Location name and product
  • Product
  • Total number of test runs
  • Total number of test failures
  • Metric's average value for the selected time frame.

For individual Backbone tests, the Health Map displays Backbone node and host information. Click:

  • Node – Hover over a Backbone icon , representing Backbone nodes, to view the following information:

    • Location name
    • Product
    • Total number of test runs
    • Total number of test failures
    • Metric's average value for the selected time frame.
  • Host – Hover over a Backbone icon to view host information:

    • Host name
    • IP address displayed with the last subnet of the IP address not shown: <nnn>.<nnn>.<nnn>.x
    • Number of test runs
    • Region
    • Average response time of this host
    • Object success rate
    • Number of object errors
    • Total bytes
    • Throughput

Clicking Host automatically changes the performance metric to throughput.
The host icon may represent more than one host. However, the displayed information applies to only one host at that location. To view information for each host at a location, zoom in to view individual host icons at that location and hover over the icon to view each host's information.

Using the map legend

The legend for the selected metric appears in the lower left corner of the map.

A color scale is located along the bottom of the map.

Drag the legend control buttons to modify the metric's threshold value. The map displays the status based on the values on the scale.

Saving different views of the health map

Modifications to the Health Map, such as different filters, thresholds, or time frames, may be retained beyond the current session depending on the dashboard and who made the modifications.

  • Modifications made to the Health Map for the Top 10 Active Test dashboard apply to the current session only.
  • Modifications made to any custom dashboard by the creator, or owner, of the dashboard are retained beyond the current session. Any user viewing this dashboard will see this version of the dashboard.
  • Modifications made to any custom dashboard by all other users apply to the current session only.

Performance chart

The Performance Chart shows the average response time and availability for the selected test as a line/column combination chart. This chart appears at the test-level only.

These metrics are depicted for the selected time period.

The failure icon identifies tests that have errors.

In this chart:

  • Hover over a column or data point to view

    • Date and time
    • Test Run number
    • Number of test failures
    • Metrics value for the selected time period
  • Click View in charts to display the data in the Trend details page.
