Profiles

User profiles determine the menus and options you can view in the Dynatrace Portal and the tasks that you can perform. The products your account has also determines the pages, menus, and options that you can view.

Available profiles are:

A user can be assigned up to three profiles.

Portal access by profile

The following tables provide an overview of the menu/features that are available for each profile.

Access to Dynatrace Portal features is identified by the following symbols. See the description of each profile, below, for details.

Account Admin

The Account Admin profile has access to all features and menus in the Portal except these administrative features:

  • User management.
  • Integration settings in the Account settings page. This profile can view but cannot edit this setting.
  • Any menus or features provided exclusively for the Partner profile.

Account Primary

The Primary profile has access to all features and menus in the Portal, excluding any menus or features provided exclusively for the Partner profile.

Your account must have at least one Account Primary user. Some Portal functions, in particular user management, can only be performed by a user with the Account Primary profile.

Operator Advanced

The Operator Advanced profile can:

  • View the Operational summary page and drill down from tests, but not edit thresholds.
  • Create custom dashboards and view other users' shared dashboards.
  • View test defaults, but not edit them.
  • View the list of tests in the Configuration summary page, and activate and deactivate tests.
  • Create charts.
  • Access all dashboards, charts, and overview information.
  • View alerts, but not configure them.
  • Run diagnostic tests.
  • View account settings.
  • View the Private agents page.

The Operator Advanced profile cannot:

  • Provision or edit tests.
  • Create or view reports.
  • View measurement locations.
  • Edit account settings.
  • Add or edit Software Private Agents.

Perf Analyst

The Perf Analyst profile does not have any administrative capabilities.

The Perf Analyst profile can:

  • View the Operational summary page and drill down from tests, but not edit thresholds.
  • Create custom dashboards and view other users' shared dashboards.
  • Access all business dashboards and views.
  • Create charts.
  • Run diagnostic tests.
  • Access reports features.
  • View the Alert logs and alert details.
  • Manage their own reports, including creating, deleting, and having reports emailed.
  • View account settings.
  • View and create contributor groups.
  • View the Private agents page.

The Perf Analyst profile cannot:

  • Configure tests or alerts.
  • Edit account settings.
  • Add or edit Software Private Agents.

Scripter

The Scripter profile can:

  • Create custom dashboards and view other users' shared dashboards.
  • View the Operational summary page, but not drill down to charts or edit thresholds.
  • View the Internet health map.
  • Access the More assets page to download the Windows Recorder.
  • View account settings.
  • View the Private agents page.

The Scripter profile cannot:

  • Manage tests.
  • Access reports.
  • View business dashboards and views other than the Internet health map.
  • Perform administrative functions.
  • Edit account settings.
  • View event logs.
  • Add or edit Software Private Agents.

Test Admin

The Test Admin profile has administrative capabilities for tests and alerts. This profile can:

  • Access all dashboards, views, and charts.
  • View account settings.
  • View the Private agents page.

The Test Admin profile cannot:

  • View or create reports.
  • Edit account settings.
  • Add or edit Software Private Agents.

Test Operator

The Test Operator profile can:

  • Create custom dashboards and view other users' shared dashboards.
  • View the Operational summary page, but not drill down to charts or edit thresholds.
  • View test defaults.
  • View the list of tests in the Configuration summary page, and activate and deactivate tests.
  • View the Internet health map.
  • Access diagnostic tests.
  • View account settings.
  • View the Private agents page.

The Test Operator cannot:

  • Create or view reports.
  • View measurement locations.
  • View or configure alerts.
  • Edit account settings.
  • Add or edit Software Private Agents.

Partner profile

The Partner profile, formerly known as the Reseller user level, is the profile for a company that buys the Portal from Dynatrace and resells it to other clients. A Partner profile is an administrative account intended for establishing and managing end-user accounts.

The Partner profile can:

  • View the Internet health map.
  • Create and view reports.
  • Use the Administration menu items to view account settings and the Event Log. This profile can also use the Child Account Admin submenu to add and edit end-user accounts.
  • Provide contacts from which clients can purchase additional transactions.

The following table provides an overview of the features that are available to the Partner profile.
