Contributor groups

Users with Account Primary, Account Admin, or Perf Analyst profiles have access to the Contributor groups page.

To go to the Contributor groups page, select > Contributor groups.

Define contributor groups to organize related hosts into a single unit for convenient charting. For example, a third party may contribute content to your website from several different domains. You can define a contributor group that contains all those domains in order to create a filtered Trend details view chart or interactive chart that includes only those domains, or that excludes that third-party content from the chart.

Manage the Contributor groups page

A maximum of 100 contributor groups are listed on the page. To scroll through the complete list, use the page numbers at the bottom of the screen.

Use the filter field at the top of the page to easily find a specific contributor group. Typing a string in the field lists the groups that contain the string anywhere in their name.

To sort the list, click the Name, Last modified, or Created column head. The entire list is sorted, not just the list items currently visible.

Create a contributor group

In the Contributor groups page, click Create a new contributor group to display the Create new contributor group page.

Type a name in the Name your contributor group field.

For example, use a description of host content, such as Social media or Advertisements; or use the domain name if all hosts in the contributor group are from the same domain.

You can include spaces in the name.

If all domains in the contributor group are outside the control of your infrastructure, click the control for Make contributor group 3rd party to enable the setting.

You can select hosts from a list compiled from existing contributor groups:

If you don't yet have any contributor groups, the Select host list is empty. To define your first contributor group, create a host rule as described in step 5.

Click the expand icon in the Select host field to display the list of host names.
Type a string in the filter field to list only the host names that contain that string.

Click the check boxes for the hosts you want to add.

Click Add host(s).

You can also create a rule that defines text match rules to dynamically include hosts:

Type a text string in the Add dynamic host rule field.

Click Add rule.

The text string is listed below the field. To see the list of domains that match the rule, click the expand icon in the Preview column. Dynatrace Synthetic will dynamically add third party hosts that match the rule to the contributor group, and will automatically update this list.

Click Create new contributor group at the bottom of the page.
The Contributor groups page reappears.

Edit a contributor group

  1. Click the edit icon in the row of the contributor group you want to change.
The Edit contributor group page appears.
  2. Make your changes as described above.
To remove a host or a rule from the contributor group, click the remove icon for that host or rule.
  3. When you've made all your changes, click Update contributor group at the bottom of the page.
    The Contributor groups page reappears.

Delete a contributor group

Deleting a contributor group can't be undone.

  1. In the Contributor groups page, click the remove icon for the contributor group.

  2. When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
The contributor group is removed from the list.
