Upgrading the Red Hat Enterprise Linux running an AMD software requires a total reinstallation of the operating system and the AMD monitoring software.
Before you begin
- Make sure that your RUM Console software is at least the same version as the AMD you want to upgrade.
- Make sure that your RUM Console lists the AMD you want to upgrade. It should be in the Devices list.
- Make a note of the IP address of that AMD. You will need it during this procedure.
- Make sure that using the RUM Console you can open the configuration of the AMD.
Performing the migration
Do not do this until you have completed the Before you begin section above.
Open RUM Console ► Deployment ► Manage devices.
In the Devices list, click Open Configuration for the AMD you want to upgrade.
In the upper right corner of the Configuration screen, click the Export Configuration icon and save the zipped configuration files on your local system.
Log in to the AMD as user
rootand Stop all AMD traffic monitoring services..
Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. For more information, see Installing AMD Operating System.
Install the current release of the AMD software. For more information, see Installing the AMD software.
Reboot the machine to allow correct initialization of network interface driver.
Perform post-installation system pre-configuration. Note that this can be a time-consuming task. For more information, see After you install the AMD software.
Using your RUM Console find the upgraded AMD on your device list, left click on the AMD and select Open Configuration.
In the upper-right corner of the screen, click the Import Configuration icon.
On the Import AMD Configuration screen, select the check box for the configuration file to import and click Browse to select the XML file for a specific configuration.

Network Analyzer Agent Settings
Flow Collector Settings
Click OK to import the configuration from XML files located in the zip file obtained earlier.
Once the configuration has been imported, click Save and Publish to broadcast the configuration to the newly upgraded AMD.
