Viewing a thread analysis

It can be helpful to look at the threads and thread timing using the DNA Thread Analysis view in conjunction with the Bounce Diagram.

Use any of the following methods to open a Thread Analysis :

  • Select a task in Task Hierarchy, and then select View  ► Thread Analysis from the main menu bar

  • Select a task in Task Hierarchy, and then press [Ctrl-R]

  • Select a task in Task Hierarchy, and then click Thread analysis icon on the toolbar

  • Right-click a task in Task Hierarchy and select Thread Analysis from the pop-up menu

  • Right-click a conversation in Conversation Map and select Drill into Thread Analysis from the pop-up menu.

If you right-click either half of a conversation with WAN optimization and select Drill into Thread Analysis, the Thread Analysis view will show the selected (client or server) side. If you right-click the WAN optimization icon in the middle of a conversation with WAN optimization and select Drill into Thread Analysis, the Thread Analysis view will show both sides (client and server) together.

For an example, open a Thread Analysis view of the merged task Optimal Home Page Merged and right-click and select Split Window. If the split window view is not a Bounce Diagram, right-click in the lower pane and select Replace View  ► Bounce Diagram. Then with your cursor in the Bounce Diagram, right-click and select Show Detail.

If you scroll through the thread analysis to line 8, click the first frame in the grouping shown in the Bounce Diagram to highlight it, and then position your cursor on the thread as shown. Your screen display should look similar to the following example.
