Offline license management

Prerequisites

  • A valid account on the eServices web site.
  • Open licenses created by your license vendor and downloaded to your local host from eServices as .key files.
Component vs Capacity
  • For component based licensing, apply license files to NAM Servers.
  • For capacity based licensing, apply license files to NAM Probes.

Offline activation

Log in to your NAM Console and navigate to Deployment ► Licensing on the top menu.

Click Manage Licenses.

Specify the Offline license management mode.

Click the component that you want to activate and select Activate. (NAM Server for component licenses or NAM Probe for capacity licenses)

Applies to DC RUM 2017

Upload the open license file to the component (NAM Server or NAM Probe). An activation key will be generated based on the component (NAM Server or NAM Probe) hardware.

Use the activation key to activate and download a new activated license file via eServices.

Active licenses
  • The activated capacity license file is valid only for the NAM Probe for which it was activated.
  • The activated component license file (uploaded to particular NAM Server) contains licensing for any additional components and monitoring technologies specific for that NAM Server.

Click Finish to close the popup.

Offline deactivation

Log in to your NAM Console and navigate to Deployment ► Licensing on the top menu.

Click Manage Licenses.

Specify the Offline license management (local host) mode, provide the eServices account information, and click OK.

Click the component (NAM Server or NAM Probe) that you want to deactivate and select Deactivate.

Applies to DC RUM 2017

Confirm that you want to deactivate the license on the component (NAM Server or NAM Probe).

Use the Activation key and Deactivation key (you need both) to deactivate the license through the eServices web site.

Warning

If you fail to deactivate the license on the eServices web site, that license will not be available for reactivation and will not appear on the Available licenses list.

Click Finish to close the popup.
