Installing or upgrading Java on NAM

Be sure your system is running a supported Java version.

  1. Check your system's Java version.

    1. Log in as a Linux system administrator and run the command:
      java -version
    2. Compare the result with releases listed in Supported Java builds.
  2. If your system does not have Java installed or the version is below the supported one, install or upgrade Java:
We recommend that you use the yum command to install required packages:
    yum install java-1.8.0-openjdk

Note: File names for the latest Java versions may differ depending upon the latest available Java release. See Supported Java builds.

If you decide to install Java from manually downloaded RPMs, you will also need to download java-1.8.0-openjdk-headless as it is required by java-1.8.0-openjdk.

  3. If you have multiple Java versions installed (typical for upgrade scenarios):

    1. Set the default system Java version by executing the following command:
      alternatives --config java
    2. Select the Java version recommended for your NAM release.
