Time to upgrade! NAM is scheduled for end of support. It's time to move to Dynatrace our all-in-one software intelligence platform.

Sequence explorer

Applies to NAM 2018+

Explore ► Sequences

The Sequence explorer offers simple navigation for drilling down into an operation sequence.

General charts

When you open the Sequence explorer, general charts show:

  • Requests is a breakdown of all requests according to

    • Failed
    • Timed out
    • Aborted
    • Completed

    Sequence explorer: requests

  • Completed is a breakdown of completed requests only (the requests represented by green in the Requests chart) by performance: fast and slow.

    Sequence explorer: completed

  • Completed times is a breakdown of completed requests only (the requests represented by green in the Requests chart) by processing time: idle time (time between operations), client time, network time, and server time.

Focusing the report

In the Sequences table, select a transaction or application to focus the explorer on just your selection.

  • The charts are redrawn for your selection.
  • Sequences are listed for your selection.

To zoom on a time range, select a bar in one of the charts and select Zoom to this time to focus the explorer just the selected time range.

To focus on a single transaction, select that transaction in the Sequences table.

Examining a transaction sequence

All sequences (or all sequences that match the selections you made as described above) are listed in the Single sequences table after you focus the report on a transaction.

Click a sequence in the Single sequences table and select Analyze sequence in Operation details explorer to display full information on the selected sequence in the Operation details explorer.

Interpreting the health index

As in other NAM explorers, the health index calculation in the Sequence explorer includes

  • Performance (fast or slow)
  • Availability (successful or failed)

But the Sequence explorer health index calculation also includes whether the transaction sequence ended successfully or unsuccessfully.

A transaction sequence that has 100 percent Performance (fast) and Availability (successful)...

...could still have a low Health index if, for example, the Aborted or Timed out count is high (indicating that a number of customers aborted transactions or timed out before completion/conversion).
