Alert management

Applies to NAM 2018

Use the Alert management screen as your primary control panel for NAM alert definitions.

Note

This topic applies to alerts starting with NAM 2018. For information on alert management in earlier releases, see Alert system.

Listing alerts

On the NAM Console menu, select Monitoring ► Alerts to list alert definitions. If needed, click in the filter box above the table to filter the table by the following table columns:

  • Name
The alert name. You provide this when you define the alert.

  • ID
The alert ID string. Automatically generated.

  • Type
The general type of the alert. You select this when you define the alert.

  • Version
Whether the alert is Current (DC RUM 2018 and later).

  • Enabled
Whether the alert is currently enabled. To set this switch, click in the Enabled column for that alert.

To see the devices on which an alert is deployed, click the alert. Devices are listed in the details panel. You can filter this table by device, in which case devices are listed for you to select.

Managing alerts

  • To define a new alert, click the Add alert button above the table. See Defining an alert - process overview.
  • To edit an existing alert (or review full details on an existing alert), click in the Edit column. See Defining an alert - process overview.
  • To enable or disable an alert, click in the Enabled column for that alert.
  • To make a copy of an alert, click in the Duplicate column for the alert you want to copy. The copy will appear under the original in the list with a new ID. You can then edit the copy.
  • To delete an alert definition, click in the Delete column for that alert.

Managing alert recipients

On the Alert management screen, select the Recipients tab to list all possible alert recipients of the selected type.

  1. Select a recipient type to list recipients of that type.
  2. If you have many recipients of that type, set a filter to narrow the list and find certain recipients.
  3. Select and edit recipients as needed.
