Windows Services

See Set up Agents for information on installing the agent.

If the System under Diagnosis is started as a Windows service and you don't have the opportunity to inject the Diagnostics Agent using a configuration file, you must follow the steps described below for Java 1.4 or Java 1.5 or higher:

Java 1.4

  1. Edit the Path system environment variable. Prepend <DT_HOME>\agent\lib to the path of the environment variable. <DT_HOME> represents the AppMon installation directory. For example, <DT_HOME>\agent\lib.
  2. Edit the application's ImagePath in the system registry. For example, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\<ApplicationEntry>\ImagePath.
  3. Add the following Java options to the ImagePath: -Xrundtagent:name=<agentname>,server=<serverhostname>.
  4. Restart the computer to change the system environment variable.

Java 1.5 or higher

  1. Edit the Path system environment variable. Prepend <DT_HOME>\agent\lib to the path of the environment variable. <DT_HOME> represents the AppMon installation directory. For example, <DT_HOME>\agent\lib.
  2. Edit the application's ImagePath in the system registry. For example, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet001\Services\<ApplicationEntry>\ImagePath.
