Application server - ASP.NET - DotNetNuke sample instrumentation

Going through instrumenting a .NET is a matter of seconds.

To perform the configuration:

Open the Application Environment Configuration dialog box.


JavaScript Agent is injected automatically to HTML code of your website, so you don't have to perform additional configuration for the web application UEM, this is enabled by default. Make sure your license has some UEM volume for this to work.

Select the application type as Web / Java / .NET.

In the Application Servers step, click Add. The Configure Application Servers dialog box appears.

From the Application Server list, select Microsoft IIS/ASP.NET 6+, and set its name as DotNetNuke.

Select the machine, where the DotNetNuke installed and its architecture, and click Next.

Now, add values from the dialog box to Agent Configuration for .NET.

Open your site in the browser to make sure the application is started.

Launch the Dynatrace .NET Agent Configuration application.

In the Dynatrace .NET Agent Configuration application, click +. The Create .NET Agent Configuration dialog box appears.

Select the DNN w3wp.

Enter the values from the Configure Application Servers dialog box.

DNN appears in the lower pane, but is not instrumented until you restart the DNN application pool.

Switch back to the Configure Application Servers dialog box, and click Next.

Restart the DNN application to instrument the DNN.


If the message Successfully connected 1 Agent displays, instrumentation should work.

Close the summary dialog box.

Browse the site to make sure that components are actually loaded.
