Selected readings for my JAX London Session

Here you can find some selected material on performance related topics which I also covered in my talks at JAX London.

For a couple of performance related presentations I recommend to have a look at the slides of the Performance Workshop of W-JAX 2009. The cover a number of performance related topics from the technological basis to anti patterns.

On database access I recommend looking at these Hibernate caching related articles.

Performance Considerations in Distributed Applications deals with the specifics of remoting technologies. This rather old article describes the Logical Structure vs Physical Deployment anti pattern.

Java Memory Problems covers typical memory related problems including some examples.  By the end of this week I will publish another article specifically on memory leaks.

On AJAX and Web there is also a lot of resources.   Performance Anti Patterns in AJAX applications covers a broad range of performance-related issues. Yo might however want to check out one of these specific topics as well:

… and fresh from print performance analysis of

For all web related analysis I recommend to check out Dynatrace AJAX Edition – it’s free. Andi has also done a great series on webinars you can watch online.  You might also want to check out some of the dynaTrace whitepapers.  While they are company-specific they also provide excellent coverage of performance related topics.

Last but not least I want to mention or 2010 Performance Almanac which covers performance management on a more conceptual level.

Enjoy reading!
