The Apdex (Application performance index) provides a quick overview of your application’s performance (see What is an Apdex rating? for full details).
By setting the Apdex threshold in Dynatrace application settings you can define performance thresholds for satisfying, tolerable, and frustrating user-action performance of the metric that the Apdex is based on. As defined in the Apdex algorithm, erroneous user actions are automatically rated as frustrating. Therefore, by default, Dynatrace also categorizes all user actions with JavaScript errors as frustrating.
In some cases your application may have JavaScript errors caused by 3rd party elements like ads that don’t really affect the user experience of your customers. If such errors are skewing your Apdex ratings you can have JavaScript errors ignored for specific applications or high-priority user actions.
To ignore JavaScript errors in Apdex ratings (for applications):
- Click the Applications tile on your Dynatrace homepage.
- Select an application.
- Click the More (…) button.
- Click Edit.
- Turn off Consider JavaScript errors for Apdex calculation.
To ignore JavaScript errors in Apdex ratings (for high-priority user actions):
- Click the Applications tile on your Dynatrace homepage.
- Select an application.
- Click the Performance details portion of the infographic to display the Performance analysis page.
- Click a high-priority user action listed in the Top 5 consumers list.
Note: You can manually increase the priority of any user action by clicking the More (…) button on the action’s Performance analysis page and then clicking Increase priority of this user action. - Click the More (…) button.
- Click Edit.
- Turn off Consider JavaScript errors for Apdex calculation.
