Relocate to Austria

For Austria, the visa and work permit process usually takes around three months from application to approval. Processing times vary by location — applications handled in Linz tend to move faster than those in Vienna. We'll support you through the process and keep you updated on where things stand. 

Yes, that's possible. However, many Dynatracers chose to move together from the start. 
Kids can join international schools like ABIS, LISA, and HTL Leonding, which run from September to July, so arriving together often makes the transition easier for everyone. 

Whichever you choose, our relocation team will support you and your family through the process. 

Yes, you can always visit home and work from there for part of the time. Dynatrace offers ten workation days a year, which you can use to work remotely from another country. Some colleagues combine those days with time off and spend up to a month back home. 

1. Our Engineering HQ in Linz is genuinely international —Dynatracers here come from 60+ countries. Arriving as an expat isn't unusual.   
2. You won't need German from day one. English is our working language, and the relocation team will arrange all mandatory government appointments for you with a German-speaking assistant. 
3. Settling in is something Dynatracers help with, pulling newcomers into things: office events, the running club, cycling trips, hiking groups, or families get-togethers. 
4. Linz is smaller and quieter than Vienna or Munich, and it's noticeably more affordable to live in.  
5. There's a real tech scene here: startups, tech companies, universities, and research institutes, plus art, food, and other enterntainment. The mountains and lakes are close enough for a day trip.  
6. Major cities are just a short train ride away, and the airport connects you onward. Day-to-day, you can bike to most places in Linz and across Austria. 

Linz is Austria's third-largest city and has developed a real tech scene around applied AI, machine learning, cloud-native technologies, and industrial IT. 

 Its universities are strong in technology, and graduates have gone on to found startups here that grew into international companies — Dynatrace among them. There's an active meetup culture too, including Cloud Native Linz and GDG Linz. 

Vienna operates at a different scale: a much larger tech and startup ecosystem, more international companies, and one of the biggest expat populations in Europe. 

On the expat side, both cities have established communities — internationals meetups, language exchanges, and country-specific groups. Linz's is smaller but easier to break into; Vienna's is larger and more anonymous.
