Docker containers

What are containers, how they relate to Kubernetes, and why this matters to OpenStack

Containers and Kubernetes are hotter than hot because they let developers focus on their applications, without worrying about the underlying infrastructure that delivers them. And while OpenStack didn’t replace AWS, it clearly is a success story in the open infrastructure space. Here’s what you need to know about them, and why they matter to each other. What’s up with containers? If you’ve been in IT for a long time, you… read more

New Docker image leverages bootstrapper to download OneAgent installer

With OneAgent version 1.127 we’ve introduced a new Docker image that leverages a bootstrapper to download a preconfigured OneAgent installer instead of an installer that is baked into the Docker image. The new Docker image automatically fetches the latest version of Dynatrace OneAgent. If you’ve specified a default OneAgent install version for new hosts and applications in your OneAgent updates settings, the Docker image will download the defined default… read more

DockerCon 2017 – A Tale of Three Demos

DockerCon 2017 was three days of jam-packed action. As each day closed, I took some time to reflect with my colleagues on the hottest elements of our demos and discussions. We ended up with three solid demo videos covering key aspects of our solution for Docker environments. Auto-discovery and the power of Smartscape At previous employers, I’ve demonstrated a number of products, but I’ve never focused… read more

Docker container monitoring in a hypercomplex world: notes from DockerCon 2017

We’ve just wrapped up at DockerCon and I wanted to share some of the key highlights from such an electric and high-energy event. Our booth was absolutely jammed, as we showcased our unique approach to monitoring Docker environments, caused by a word-of-mouth surge. Here’s my take: #1. Nearly everyone at the event is moving to Docker in a big way for its flexibility and scalability. #2. Complexity of container environments and… read more
