esure chooses dynaTrace for next generation Application Performance Management
Leading online insurance provider chooses dynaTrace 4 for monitoring critical application
and web infrastructures
LONDON, UK--November 16, 2011--Compuware
Corporation (Nasdaq: CPWR), the technology performance company, today announced
that esure, a leading provider of insurance in the UK, has chosen
dynaTrace as its platform for
application performance management (APM). Selling car, home and travel
insurance on the phone and over the internet, esure will use dynaTrace to gain visibility
across its online applications and inside its systems to ensure optimal business
and technical performance of critical IT services.
esure’s business infrastructure relies on specialised Java applications, and operates
in a sophisticated environment. Using dynaTrace
PurePath Technology®, esure will benefit from a continuous, end-toend view
of all processed transactions from the web servers through the company’s application
and web tiers back to the database. Dashboards that show data as it is collected
in real-time will allow for smart prioritisation of actions and give a business-savvy
perspective on application performance.
The decision to select dynaTrace was made by esure IT Service Manager Darren Edwards.
“Advanced web technology is key to our business - it allows us to offer competitive
premiums and superior service to our customers. Our previous APM solution was not
providing both the service-based view and ability to drill down to a very low level
of granularity on individual transactions with a full endend view. A proof of concept
proved dynaTrace to be more than fit for purpose in our complex production environment,
with an acceptable level of overhead whilst giving visibility into our systems at
all times, in real time, so we can ensure our site always performs to the standard
our users expect. The proof of concept demonstrated that dynaTrace 4 was quick to
implement and provides high value in terms of the business and technical information
it delivers. We expect to be even more strongly positioned in terms of proactively
preventing performance degradation and identifying the root cause of issues with
the actionable information and insight we will get for our deployed applications.”
John Van Siclen, General Manager of Compuware’s APM Business Unit, Compuware
Corporation, commented, “As organisations have consolidated their IT infrastructures
using virtualisation technologies and cloud computing models, the emphasis on improving
application performance has shifted to the software layer. In order to improve application
performance and deliver a great user experience, companies now require more detail
about how their customers are interacting with their websites and the applications
that support them. By taking an end-to-end approach with PurePath®, companies can
get real actionable insight into where their applications can be improved. We are
looking forward to working with esure around their application performance management
requirements.”
dynaTrace recently launched dynaTrace 4, the next generation APM solution for supporting
critical applications in production environments. dynaTrace 4 provides granular
information about applications and how they are performing in real world conditions;
from the data centre through to the browser window where user interaction takes
place. By providing a complete picture of application performance along with the
ability to drill down into individual transactions, dynaTrace offers greater opportunities
for businesses that rely on IT to improve their customer satisfaction and reduce
the amount of time and money they spend on tracking and fixing issues.
