dynaTrace extends compatibility to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
Version 2.6 of award-winning Lifecycle APM Solution now supports Microsoft’s
market-leading collaboration platform
Boston – 10 June 2008 – dynaTrace software, the award-winning leader in lifecycle application performance management for distributed .NET and Java applications, today announced that the newest version of dynaTrace extends lifecycle performance management to individual Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 sites running inside Microsoft’s Internet Information Services (IIS), enabling performance diagnosis during development, testing and production operations of Office SharePoint Server 2007 applications.
“SharePoint Server 2007 is exploding as a platform, both in terms of usage and complexity,” said dynaTrace CEO Bernd Greifeneder. “More companies are using SharePoint Server to collaborate on mission-critical business data, and are building custom applications to further facilitate that collaboration. Out of the box, dynaTrace can now help them diagnose – at any point in the lifecycle – performance issues in those applications that may impede collaboration, taking advantage of existing investments in Microsoft Visual Studio and VS Test.”
“We are excited about the support for SharePoint Server 2007 in dynaTrace 2.6,” said Cathy Walton, senior product manager for SharePoint at Microsoft Corp. “As SharePoint Server grows as a platform, we expect our customers will desire visibility into their SharePoint-based applications to manage performance and drastically reduce mean-time-to-repair of any performance issues. dynaTrace works seamlessly with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Team System Test Edition in order to isolate such issues early in the lifecycle, and this helps our customers to attain optimal performance from day one in production.”
dynaTrace’s core is PurePath Technology®: technology enabling transaction tracing across physical and logical tiers, whether.NET or Java. While tracing, PurePath measures the performance of individual servers, components and method borders (where problems occur), enhancing those findings with correlated contextual information such as logs, exceptions and method arguments (why problems occur).
dynaTrace 2.6 enables Office SharePoint Server 2007 customers to manage performance and service-level fulfilment of individual SharePoint Server 2007 sites running inside the same IIS6+ instance, identify slow SharePoint Web Parts, and diagnose the root cause of performance problems in individual Web Parts.
Furthermore, dynaTrace 2.6 assists Office SharePoint Server 2007 customers in managing the performance of SharePoint Server 2007 applications across the entire life-cycle: in development via code-link integration with Microsoft Visual Studio; in testing, through incorporation with with Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Testers powering automated tests of entire SharePoint sites or pages running on Office SharePoint Server 2007 consisting of multiple Web Parts; and in production with 24x7 monitoring/diagnostics tracing discrete transactions from individual SharePoint sites, so operations can send the PurePath of any poor-performing SharePoint Server 2007 transaction directly to development or testing for root-cause analysis.
