dynaTrace Launches Community Portal

Boston – 25 February 2009 – dynaTrace software, the leader in continuous application performance management across the lifecycle for business critical Java and .NET applications, today announced the launch of the dynaTrace Community Portal. This portal will provide the expanding dynaTrace ecosystem with a dynamic resource for sharing knowledge, best practices, product tips and techniques, training materials and re-useable software modules. With the community portal, customers will have access to the information and software they need to accelerate their deployment of dynaTrace-enabled application performance management solutions across the full lifecycle – development, test and production.

The dynaTrace Community Portal offers an array of resources to help members move to the next level of application performance:

• Knowledge Base – quickly find information and solutions for anything in the universe of knowledge related to dynaTrace, performance, and advanced application technologies
• Technology Samples and Tutorials – self-directed learning with interactive samples and video tutorials to advance user know-how with dynaTrace and application performance
• Training – a wide variety of online and on-site training for advanced dynaTrace use
• OSGi/open source-based plug-ins – so community members can extend dynaTrace to fully leverage existing investments across the application lifecycle

dynaTrace 3 introduced the industry’s only OSGi/open source-based plug-in management and deployment infrastructure that allows customers to extend dynaTrace with their own or 3rd-party developed software plug-ins. The Community Portal will be where customers can download and exchange plug-ins.

To seed the community, dynaTrace has contributed open source, pre-built, pre-tested plug-ins for technology from commercial and open source providers, such as:

• Load testing and EMS plug-ins that provide automated integration into customers existing application development and management environments
  • JMeter, Visual Studio Team System to automate integration into load tests
  • HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, MS SCOM to automatically propagate alerts to operations consoles
• Monitoring plug-ins that enable customers to integrate performance management with a variety of enterprise monitoring systems
  • Unix systems, SNMP data sources to monitor system resource usage
  • VMware infrastructure data to see how performance on virtualized environments maps to physical systems
  • Web Transaction Monitor to provide simple end-user monitoring based on synthetic transactions

The dynaTrace community portal not only facilitates the sharing of plug-ins, but also additional software modules such as custom sensors for popular frameworks and technologies such as Hibernate, Spring, and SharePoint, as well as software for integration with popular IDE’s such as Eclipse and MS Visual Studio.

The community portal builds on the successful launch of dynaTrace 3, which is designed to meet the new demands of application performance management. The portal will include information for the new innovative features in dynaTrace 3 including:
